Homeward Bound Heroes pulling for HSH

Help HSH improve lives locally!

Home Suite Hope is pulling a plane at the United Way Halton & Hamilton campaign kick-off - the UPS Plane Pull on Saturday, September 21 at the Hamilton Airport.

HSH is a United Way Halton & Hamilton-funded agency and our team is the Homeward Bound Heroes - named after HSH's signature program, Homeward Bound Halton.

By sponsoring the HSH team you would be supporting the ongoing work of UWHH in its mission to fund programs that address three focus areas - helping children and youths reach their full potential, improving neighbourhood health and personal well-being, and promoting financial security and independence.

As HSH is a United Way Halton & Hamilton-supported charity, any funds raised towards this ALSO support HSH.

The UWHH has received a generous MATCH for its Agency teams so any funds raised by an

agency team (including HSH) up to $1,500 will be matched at 50% and every $1 over that will be matched 100% (to a maximum combined total of $20K)!

HSH's Homeward Bound Halton program was the first replica program of that offered by Toronto's WoodGreen Community Services. It is an up to four-year program which supports single parents as they move from homelessness or precarious housing to stability through support, education and employment.

The program begins with the Stabilizing First phase in which HSH works with Halton Region to house the participant and their family. That occurs in conjunction with supports and counselling that includes child care and groceries to life skills and academic upgrading. It is followed, thanks to a bursary from Sheridan College that pays tuition for a two-year post-secondary program in fields known to offer employment opportunities and then up to a year of job search support.

The program has proved to be highly successful in changing the trajectory of participants and eliminating the repeating cycle of generational poverty. Most recently, HSH and its participants are facing increasingly significant challenges due to the lack of affordable housing as HSH programming is based on a housing-first model.

Please DONATE to support HSH and its single parent families!
