info431139

A 2025 Blog Series by Sara Cumming, Executive Director, Home Suite Hope

For over 20 years, Home Suite Hope (HSH) has been at the forefront of helping women and children break the cycle of homelessness and poverty. From its humble beginnings to its current, well-established programs, HSH has continuously adapted to meet the needs of our

community.

One of our most talked-about programs, Homeward Bound Halton (HBH), has had a profound impact, providing marginalized women and children with the tools they need to rebuild their lives. But as with many not-for-profit organizations, we have faced significant challenges along the way — from funding fluctuations to shifts in housing affordability and labour market demands.

In this blog series to be published throughout March, we’ll take you through the journey of HSH in the past few years, highlighting the successes, the challenges, and the strategic pivots that have been essential in our ongoing efforts to support single-parent families.

You’ll hear about the evolution of Homeward Bound Halton, the community support that has been instrumental in our growth, and the hurdles we’ve had to overcome — especially in the face of an increasingly difficult housing market.

As we look to the future, we are excited to share our vision for 2025 and beyond— through our Strategic Plan, we are committed to adapting our programs, expanding housing options, and continuing to empower families to achieve lasting self-sufficiency.

We invite you to follow along as we navigate these changes, focusing on our core mission while

responding to the evolving needs of the families we serve. Please read the blog series to be posted

Fridays throughout March here on our website at HomeSuiteHope.org. Watch our social media for updates on new posts as they are published.

Introduction to Home Suite Hope's Journey

and the Homeward Bound Halton Program

Home Suite Hope (HSH) has been on an incredible journey since its inception 20 years ago. Like most not-for-profits, HSH has seen many shifts and transformations. Today, our flagship program, Homeward Bound Halton (HBH), stands out as a beacon of hope in the community. It is a licensed program, in partnership with WoodGreen Community Services, that is designed to provide a safe and supportive environment where participants can rebuild their lives. Through housing, education, career development, and mentorship, we have seen countless success stories of women transforming their lives and breaking the cycle of poverty.

Despite the challenges, Homeward Bound Halton has made an incredible impact. The transformations we’ve seen in participants, from homelessness to self-sufficiency, have been inspiring.

These success stories motivate us to continue expanding and adapting our services to better serve those in need. But as the landscape continues to shift, we are finding that change is necessary to keep up with the rising demands.

Watch for Part II of this blog series next Friday.
