Spring Clean-Up benefits HSH families

Have you done your spring cleaning? Are you wondering where to put the items you no longer want to keep?

Your answer: bring it to Home Suite Hope.

HSH is in the midst of its Spring Clean-Up Donation Drive – and the deadline to donate has been extended to June 14.

HSH is happy to collect donations of used clothing, shoes, books, children’s toys, household linens and household decor.

As you are spring cleaning, think of donating items to us. All donations will be collected and brought to a local Value Village to be weighed. All proceeds from the sale of the items will directly support HSH’s wraparound supports for single-parent families.

HSH will be paid the following for the items we collect:

• Clothing: 20 cents per pound;

• Small housewares: 10 cents per pound;

• Books: 10 cents per pound;

• Furniture: 5 cents per item;

• Other large items: 5 cents per item

Please box (household items) or bag (soft items) your donations, and email KatelynZ@HomeSuiteHope.org to schedule a time to drop off your donations.

Let’s rally together to help us reach our goal of raising $3,000 for Home Suite Hope. That’s about 750 Large Yard Bags (avg. 20 lbs.) and 225 medium boxes (household goods)! Let’s do this Halton!

Thanks to U-Haul Moving & Storage of Oakville for their generous contribution of storage units for our donation drive! The support means all donations to our drive are being stored in their easily-accessible, climate controlled, spacious units.

And thanks to a grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation, HSH now has a small truck to transport donations.

Volunteers Needed to Transport Donations

If you’ve already donated or think you’ve run out of time – or if you can help us moving the donations… we are looking for you. For anyone attending our Volunteer Appreciation BBQ on June 13, bring your donations with you. The venue is near our office so you can save a trip.

And for anyone who has a vehicle and is not afraid of lifting, please consider volunteering on our weigh-in day at Value Village. We need volunteers with a vehicle who can do some lifting to help us take donations from storage to weigh-in on June 20 between 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
